supergloom and the floating elusive blur of "Cut the Ties" (Official Lyric Video)

"living life passively, it's not worth it is it?'"

There are degrees of dreamy haze on "Cut the Ties" from Los Angeles based supergloom and, no, I'm not going to make a smog joke. More to the point, supergloom has crafted a track that does have an elusive sound floating on synthy beds, soft moody vocal layers, tight drums, melodic bass runs and pearly guitars as if the song is in a constant blur which makes perfect sense as the track is about facades, about the false persona's people present and there is a lot of that happening in L. A. (and, I suppose everywhere).

Comprised of Bertrand Vellky on lead/harmony / vocals & guitar, Peter Doherty on lead harmony vocals, keys / rhythm guitar, Shane Graham on drums / percussion and Ethan Walden on bass, supergloom shares that:

"This song is about shedding the façade of being someone or something you are not and embracing who you really are."

As the song move it even gets more blurry for a bit and then erupts, sort of chasing itself for a punchy more clear outro and I dig that.

From deep inside LA’s local music scene emerges supergloom, a new 4-piece collective of independently accomplished musicians. In keeping with their pop sensibilities, the band produces experimental songs that are both catchy and challenging. Think Deerhunter meets Radiohead and invites their friends Grizzly Bear and Pink Floyd.
