OH MY EYES and the glowing ember and fire of "JESUS" (Official Video)

"the dawn of the eclipse can destroy your eyes..."

I am an atheist but if Jesus the man, existed then he seems like he was a divergent thinker with a DIY aesthetic. "Jesus" the song by Seattle based OH MY EYES, a post pandemic divergent group of artists already entrenched in the local music scene through other bands, feels trippily, at least a little, Biblical because the song is born from the sinewy artistic thoughts of multiple writers and can be interpreted in a myriad of ways.

I am drawn into the percussive, plucky sounds and the ramping up feeling as the vocals start. The sensation is a glowing ember that catches fire. The tightly would musical bed obviously wonderfully precise has a feral feel and when the song erupts (I am a goddamn sucker for fanning guitar leads) it is a glorious thing. Digging the psychedelic jamming, the orchestration that sounds like horns (like sax or clarinet) and the inquisitive lead vox (whomever it is). The vocal countenance can feel as snarky as it can hopeful around it's defiant edges. It is raised eye brow artful, maybe with tongue in cheek, maybe not but it makes me smile and get a little giddy even.

OH MY EYES is comprised of:

Dylan - Guitar, vocals (Previously in Crazy Eyes)

Nick - Guitar, vocals (Previously in Colorworks, DEK)

Mitch - Bass (Also in Hi Wasted, Vanilla Abstract, Cooper Valentine)

Jordan - Drums, vocals (Also in Speak Easy, The Winter Shakers, session work with Ayron Jones)

AND this is my first taste.

-Robb Donker Curtius
