Loveseat Pete and the punchy embrace of "Sawyer"

"please don't leave me here alone..."

It is easy to get lost in the constant urgency of "Sawyer" by Asbury Park, New Jersey based Loveseat Pete and from their upcoming full length debut "Feel Alive" (due to drop late in 2022). The textured, tactile driving sound of Jason Wenzel's bass and solid in the pocket drumming courtesy of Matthew Keenan nicely offset by frontman Vincent Nigro's percolating guitar work (that explodes and pushes melodic lead structures) is totally inviting. Splash on dreamy vox with harmonies telling stories and you have a lovely captivating counter position of sounds like if you smashed The Pixies and Beach Boys together.

Digging the emotionality and drive in the sound that hinges on indie rock drenched in bits of Heartland Rock, Folk Rock underpinnings and what I would call a sort of 80's power pop sound.

Loveseat Pete is an indie, alternative rock band from Asbury Park, New Jersey. The band was formed amidst the pandemic in 2020, spearheaded by frontman Vincent Nigro. Accompanied by bassist Jason Wenzel and drummer Matthew Keenan, their sound would be pretty hard to box in. Taking nods from indie rock bands such as The Strokes and Wavves, but also going further back on pop-rock contemporaries like the Beach Boys and The Beatles, there really isn’t a sound that they don’t draw inspiration from. They released their debut EP God Damn, Give Up in September of 2021, and since then has garnered nearly 25,000 streams on Spotify, as well as being featured on popular playlists like Grand Jury Record’s “Jury Duty”, as well as the “r/listentothis” collective. To celebrate and promote the release, they have played shows with their pals Sonic Blume, Strange Weekend, the Customers, Sweet Pill, and Have A Good Season. However, things have been slow for the winter months, and they plan to hit the ground running the second it becomes safe.

Since the release of God Damn, Give Up, Loveseat Pete has been working on their debut album, and plan on releasing in mid-to-late 2022. With singles coming down the pipeline, their new sound puts great emphasis on texture and layers, with a tighter focus on songwriting, all while giving no sacrifice to the earworms that they’re known for. For the upcoming year, Loveseat Pete will be on your radar, and hopefully on your playlists.
