R3VO and the mashed metal, alt rock pummel and dance of "Artificial Pleasure" (Official Video)

"it obscures my vision..."

Drop squarely in the metal mashing "Artificial Pleasure" by Berlin based R3VO and you will, admittedly, think about other alt rock bands. I mean immediately, tonally, you will think of MUSE but slowly that thought will evaporate. The drumming is more post hardcore and the incredibly powerful vocal aesthetic (maybe if Hayley Williams' and PJ Harvey's vocal countenance had a rebellious baby) shifts AP to other musical places. The dynamic musical narrative is vast. The vocal melodies and especially the use of semitones veer slightly into a Mid-Eastern lilt at times. When the rabid proggy guitar and bass dances fall into psychedelic places with diminished 7th (or thereabouts) shapes, the absolutely avant rock reflections expand and erupt in such interesting ways as the drums creatively thrash and paradiddle naturally.

There is so much going on stylistically, metal mashing with post hardcore and more commercial alt rock tones that the over five minute song feels like 3 minutes. I gleefully put this on repeat and got lost in it for 20 minutes.

Check it out- enjoy.
