Yndling and the dreamy multi-colored universe of "Plants" (Official Video)

One wouldn't think a song named "Plants" would be so utterly dreamy and vibey but as realized by Yndling, the divergent dream pop project of Norwegian artist Silje Espevik, with all the multi-colored textures and wonderfully realized other worldly universe it feels like you might have shrunken to the size of a ladybug and have fallen into an organic world of gigantic beautiful vegetation.

Silje's vocal aesthetic feels appropriately awestruck and wide eyed. There is a sense of whimsy within her bedroom pop gone big sound. "Plants" has sonic dynamism throughout, from the beginning which has a kind of  Wizard of Oz in black and white muted sense until the song opens up into full color and expands and contracts at will. Within an emotional context that ebbs and flows too it all makes sense.

Yndling shares -

“Plants is about breaking up in a slow kinda way, and the feeling of being too close to see things clearly. It’s about the conflicting emotions of wanting to still be held in high regard by your partner, but pulling away at the same time, and the terrible sensation of losing closeness to what used to be your favorite person. I wanted to have that feeling with the production as well, and Adrian Einestor Sandberg, who I’ve been working with since I started Yndling, did such an amazing job with me on this. I love the gritty drums, and the repetitive guitar-loop over the chorus really hammering in that feeling of suffocation and almost addictive phase as you’re struggling to let go of someone”

Following the release of her eponymous 7-tracks debut EP (including the Radio Edit of single Like Love is Real) in January 2022, "Plants" is part of a Deluxe version of the EP along with the track "Fringe".

"It’s been such a privilege to release my EP and it’s been both weird and so nice to finally have it out there in the world. Now I’m super excited to share two new tracks that I feel really completes it”

"Yndling (Deluxe)" is available on all major platforms via Kerry On The Cake.
