ANNE VERONICA and the beautifully moving melancholia of "Rest Of Me"

"and all the different voices that I'd be just turned into one or two or three..."

"Rest Of Me" by Copenhagen singer-songwriter Anne Veronica and from her recently released 2022 "Songs From Home" album, is a beautiful melancholy exercise in the power of honest storytelling, of openly bleeding in an artful way. Anne keeps the production simple which makes the song even more captivating. It is mostly sparse piano and her voice during the verses low and resonant, sung but almost in a conversational way. When the chorus drops, the emotional edges show more as Anne pushes her voice to a moving falsetto with self supporting vocal harmonies embraced by cellos / strings. I absolutely adore the counter position of vocal styles between verse and chorus.

I have not delved fully into the album but peered around the corners and am quietly blown away.
