Colyer and the dark romance mystery of "Weird World"

"LA got me drunk..."

"Weird World" by L.A. based Colyer slips through the ether easily. The sound is pop noir, deeply sensual and darkly romantic just like Steven Colyer's vocal performance. When he coos, "LA got me drunk" you might feel that inebriation. It is also the cadence, the bits of space that allows the song and it's emotional edges to breath or stop breathing. The spartan feeling makes the big ascensions wrap around you and as singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer who wrote and recorded it all, Colyer self paints the imagery in such a personal way. "Weird World" from the full length album 'LONESTARDOM' is the kind of song that feels like a movie that you very much want to see, hidden back story and all.

Colyer, the eponymous project of musician Steven Colyer, has established a uniquely versatile sound. As a singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer, he wrote and recorded every element of his upcoming debut album. Drawing inspiration from 60s soul, 90s shoegaze, and everything in-between, no genre—or personal experience— is off limits. Born in the South, raised in the Midwest, and now in Los Angeles, his voice and innate vulnerability are both approachable and original. Colyer's full-length record is set to be released Summer 2022.
