"my leaves need water, my bed's unkempt..."
What can I say about "Green Pastures" by Berlin-based psychedelic art folk artist Ark White? This track, so lush and poetic with a simple production hinging on a deeply beautiful and artful vocal performance and pearly guitar moves. The song is steeped in grand gestures in an intimate way and (to me) feels like baroque pop with jazz tones probably more than folk insofar as the overall atmosphere. There are heavy, even dark moves, moments of a gentle beat and deep bass walls that encircle the vocals and fall away at the right moments. For all the beautiful intimacy, there is also a surreal cast.
As press notey stuff indicate
[The song’s lyrics deal with coming to terms with the feeling of loss after a breakup. The five verses show different stages of grief and the reflection of these feelings. While it is a deeply sad song at times, it is overall a comforting and soothing ballad about needing to take care of oneself.]

[The track was written in the course of just a few hours on a moody day of the 2019 winter in Devon, England using classical composition techniques and mainly just pencil & paper.]
Green Pastures is the second single of Ark White’s seven track debut-EP releasing throughout 2022. This utterly beautiful, poetic song strikes gold in the vein of Jeff Buckley, Thom Yorke and Luke De-Sciscio.

Ark White is a Berlin-based genre-defying Psychedelic Folk artist previously known as Bit, the producer and composer of experimental German Rap Duo Ruhe & Bit. Their 2019 debut album was released on experimental Hip-Hop label "Sichtexot" and received very positive press in German Hip-Hop magazines and airplay on German public radio "Bayrischer Rundfunk (BR)." Since mid 2019 Ark White has returned to songwriting centered around his own voice and his guitar. His seven-track Debut-EP "Foldin' Love" is releasing this year.
His intricate, yet intimate songwriting sits somewhere between Jeff Buckley, Thom Yorke, the later Beatles and contemporary psychedelic artists like King Krule or Nick Hakim. He fuses unorthodox backgrounds in classical guitar, Hip-Hop production and Indie-Rock to assist his soulful voice in gaining a haunting momentum while transferring impressionistic and psychedelic poetry.
