"Under the colors / I wish you best / But all you can think of / Is the truth..."
His current "Fireworks", the 6th single from his upcoming album is a stripped down affair but perfect as such. A beautiful underlying piano and touches of ambience frame his guitar and vocals. It's melancholia infused with the memories that hang on after the end of a relationship that is detailed, framed by pretty guitar notes, the supporting other voice of Rakel Sigurðardóttir and the edges of those vocals that hang in the air.
Of the song Axel shares: "Fireworks’ is one of the first songs I ever wrote and it has lived through many versions and different times of my life, which is why it’s one of the songs that I hold closest to my heart from the album You Stay By The Sea. After all the versions it has been presented in, it was lovely to take it back to its true core.”
Like an embrace, "Fireworks" is beauty in repose. You may feel hints of Damien Rice but mostly you will feel the full tilt of Axel Flóvent.

Axel is so interesting he was born and raised in the remote fishing village of Husavik (population 2000) in Iceland and rose to acclaim in early 2016 after the release of the impressive Forest Fires EP. “Fireworks” - is the 6th single of singer/songwriter Axel Flóvent’s upcoming album and deals with a heavy theme by detailing the end of a relationship. It’s underscored by a beautifully sad grand piano.
