Emmrose and the wide dream pop grandeur of "The Feeling's Mutual"

Brooklyn based Emmrose again defines herself as a natural pop indie songwriter with the release of "The Feeling's Mutual". In a pop landscape that seems to all too often relying on music machines (witness, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and Beyonce each using dozen of co-writers / and often the same ones), Emmrose possesses a pure art aesthetic as a singular songwriter, musician and a vocal stylist. Even though I have only been aware of her for a couple of years, this 18 year old has an instantly reliable voice. 

"The Feeling's Mutual" is thoroughly relatable. It is a pop anthem about the end of a toxic friendship told with a grand big blend of dream and baroque pop tones. There is a cross generational thing happening (at least to my ears). Along with producer Mike Abiuso the song reaches into classic realms. The theatricality and diorama of sounds could of existed in the 80's, 90's and early 2000's as much as today, giving it a broad emotional scope. Love Emmrose's melodies, words and incredible voice. I can imagine that she will be around for decades crafting her songs for herself and others.

Emmrose is an eighteen-year-old songwriter whose career began four years ago when she wrote her first pop song in math class. To date, she has released 14 singles an award-winning EP, Hopeless Romantics, and is currently working on her second EP while going to college in New York City. Emmrose is a prolific songwriter, who records exclusively at Behind the Curtains Media in Brooklyn, New York with producer Mike Abiuso. In May of 2020 her single “The Grass Was Greener” was placed on two Spotify Editorial playlists, a surprising event due to the fact that the entire recording and production had been done remotely during the COVID lockdown in NYC, with Emmrose in her Manhattan bedroom and her producer working in his Brooklyn apartment. Emmrose is signed to Secret Road Music services for sync licensing, and the single “Waitlisted” aired on MTV’s Teen Mom in November of 2021.
