The Mud Howlers and the hypnotic psychedelic rock wave of "Ábrete Sésamo" (Official Video)

"Ábrete Sésamo..."

Ábrete Sésamo by the psych indie rock outfit The Mud Howlers (based out of Hermosillo, Mexico) was inspired by an acid trip. It appropriately starts off with a comfortable heartbeat that ramps up to a sprint. It continues to churn and burn on electronica, guitars and drums with sparse vox for over 7 minutes. The driving bass, electronic squiggles and blurps and guitar eruptions have a surf punk power but the overall atmosphere also, and maybe oddly enough, conjures up (for me) 70's stoner rock and the deep psychedelic hypnosis of artists like Emerson Lake and Palmer and Edgar Winter. The song sits in between those drug dipped sounds and a band like OSEES in a glorious way.
