The frenetic energy of "Oh honey" by Persona 749, the project of solo creative, mystery man and anything but milk toast songwriter, DIY producer Che Landikusic feels like when you are in a noisy bar or club with music blaring and a guy you don't know who is probably exquisitely high and from some non-descript East Coast rarified bubble (or maybe a non-descript European enclave) has latched onto you full of thoughts the he HAS to tell you. The energy of "Oh honey" alone could probably power a small Icelandic village and the maybe improvised ID vocal performance is alluring.
Dissecting "Oh honey" is probably as unnecessary as dissecting a frog in high school but the punk full tilt bass and drums and wide eyed vocals is key to the nature of this song but listen a few times, many times and there is so much subtle things going. This simple song is not that simple. Digging the emotional edges, the sonic brilliance here and hoping I meat "that guy" in this song. Cuz that would be a fucking trip.
