Vincent Christ and the moody, foggy, artful imagery of "I See Jets" (Official Video)

"I smile cuz I know my future, can't wake up without a diver's suit..."

Existing somewhere between Lou Reed and Bauhaus on a barbiturate drip, "I See Jets", by the ever emotionally nomadic Londoner Vincent Christ, does feel like a dadaistic fever dream. Accompanied with the wonderfully scuffed up Official Video, as filmed by Patrick Lyons on a vintage super 8 camera at a historic estate in the North of England, it feels like a song that existed in 1983. It has a Goth pop meets post punk (and proto punk) sensibility. The beautiful moody rhythm guitar might suggest Echo and the Bunnymen (at least to me) and the lyrical flow paints the imagery of hazy reflections or ID dominant thoughts while staring at the sky or staring at jets. Digging this and how it makes me feel, art with pursed lips, love the lead guitar work and absolutely slowly swaying bass lines, drunken but feeling good.

Vincent Christ has this to share:

"I wrote the song 'I See Jets' after a dream I had about Alan Vega from Suicide. In the dream we were walking to a Mediterranean town down a long, winding hillside. Everything was orange and sunbaked. We talked as we walked and stopped to watch a game of basketball. I think we were walking to somewhere where we were supposed to perform later on, but we never got there. There was a heavy sense of paranoia in the dream. That feeling, as well as some of the things Alan said, inspired the lyrics and set the tone for this track."

Originally odd, inspired and thankfully not another song about the girl or boy who broke someone's heart. "I See Jets" is a stand-alone single following the "Kil St. Clare" EP released on August 4th.

Combining an individualistic visual style with urgent and immediate songs, London-based artist Vincent Christ is gaining notoriety for feeling-first, irreverent songs informed by new wave, art-rock and post-punk. Although originally involved in hip-hop production, Vincent gravitated to working with instruments and playing, arranging and recording everything himself, developing his sharp and shimmering guitar tones. Vincent, who is believed to have a different birth name, explores themes of speed, change and disillusionment. Hailed the 'saviour of the sax solo' by post-punk.com, he introduced himself in 2022, offering thoughtful, upbeat records to the UK punk scene.
