conk creet and the dense dreamy melancholia of "home"

photo credit: @alexis.richelle  -  "It's hard to show it / She doesn't know it / The way I think about her favorite songs / Or when she's laughing at my dumb jokes / I'm feeling anxious / She's got me nervous..."

The dense melancholia of "home" from California's conk creet might feel like a departure from the band's normal blend of surf / doo wop punk / garage rock but it is no less impactful and, besides, even their most mosh worth material has emotional underpinnings. "home" stirs you into the foggy fray and the surreal Beach House meets Twin Peaks (the 90's TV series) atmospheres are magnetic as are the embracing vocals painting a picture of heartbreak that easily wraps around you. I absolutely love the inclusion of  piano and the way everything else steps back to hear it. The drum sound with piano and heavy bass tones is heavenly as is the gorgeous lead work that flows in like a dance.

The production feels wonderfully spatial and I appreciate actually being able to hear the lyrics despite the sort of shoegaze approach.

"I'll find a way back home to you / Yeah i'll find it / I'll find my way back home to you /Yeah i'll find you..."

Self-described as the lovechild of The Growlers and Turnstile, conk creet is a relatively new face in the indie rock scene of Southern California. With roots in shoegaze, surf rock, and hardcore punk, conk creet's live shows are known to pack an exceptionally wild punch.

** At this particular time we find ourselves in a financial pinch due to many factors. We want to keep AP going. It has been a passion project for over 13 years. PLEASE consider donating, we could really use the support. Thanks so much
