Tempesst and the orchestral psychedelic melancholy beauty of "True Love's In Decline" (Official Video)

"he was the fall of romance, the downfall of man, the nuclear family collides..."

Texturally, thematically there is a lot going on within "True Love's In Decline" by England's Tempesst, twin brothers Toma (vocals) & Andy (drums) Banjanin, Eric Weber (guitars), Blake Misipeka (bass) and Kane Reynolds (keyboards) who embody a true DIY ethic, with their hands and deep thoughts in every aspect of what they do. The song is about love in the digital age but the boys beautifully, playfully go back (and maybe sideways) coalescing a sound that pulls from many times and genres.

While Toma waxes poetic with an artistic flair that feels as inward as it does theatrical, orchestral sounds sweep around a lovely bass and drum waltz. You feel everything from 60's Brit pop, the 80's romance wave of artists like Bryan Ferry and ABC, a slight coating of 70's pop (think Gilbert O'Sullivan) and 70's glam, especially during the lead break, (think Bowie and T-Rex) AND somehow it all feels beautiful juggling psychedelic charm and melancholia all the while.

"True Love's In Decline" is from Tempesst's newest album ‘Prisoner of Desire’ - "a candid meditation on love."

Tempesst are twin brothers Toma (vocals) & Andy (drums) Banjanin, Eric Weber (guitars), Blake Misipeka (bass) and Kane Reynolds (keyboards). The band are fiercely independent, from writing songs to recording the music, making the videos and ordering the vinyl, they do everything themselves, truly embodying the DIY ethic.

They established Pony in 2019, a label, string of recording studios and ever-growing artistic space that is now home to a thriving community of musicians, producers and artists; based out of an old shoe factory in Hackney. Pony has fast become the beating heart of a creative collective in East London. “

The band’s 2020 debut ‘Must Be A Dream’ received glowing support from the likes of Radio 1, NME, The Line Of Best Fit, Financial Times, Clash and more. In a move away from how they previously recorded, the band decided to lay everything down live on their new album, recording mostly live to tape at Pony and capturing their true sound. ‘Prisoner Of Desire’ will arrive in February 2023.

** At this particular time we find ourselves in a financial pinch due to many factors. We want to keep AP going. It has been a passion project for over 13 years. PLEASE consider donating, we could really use the support. Thanks so much
