LASHING and the artful soul wave adornments of "Step Into The Light"

 

"walk the walk, pay the cost..."

Listening to "Step Into The Light" by Lashing, the experimental music project of Atlanta, Georgia artist Austin Walley, and I thought of 1980, not 1978 or 79, not 1981 or 82 but 1980 exactly. Maybe it is the rolling funk adornments, the new wave sway that brings to mind a Bowie or ABC and, of course, Nile Rodgers. Digging the guitar lines and the gleeful collision of art pop, soul, indie rock and experimental notions. Not sure if I am glamorizing that era but it seemed that all cultures sort of were smashed together and felt comfortable being weird and artful.

Slick your hair back or up and dip in.
