The Histrionics and the barrage punk ID drenched "Twist"

"all these pretty pleading melodies we do...."

Lately I have been listening to song submissions as soundtracks to movies (either that exist or ones yet to be made). Does that sound strange? It might be a new way of wanting to interpret the sonic artistry that I write about or a kind of grinding filter to run the less surprising, less satisfying submissions through that I cull through on a daily basis. Listening to the sketchy barrage punk atmospheres of Louisville, Kentucky three piece The Histrionics via their track "Twist" and I, for whatever reason, feel it could be artistically connected to the latest Brandon Cronenberg horror / thriller "Infinity Pool". A fun exercise is watching the trailer while listening to "Twist".

Maybe it is the dirty distorted jaggy guitar, the ID punk feel blended with doo wop punk and grunge vocals that make me think of The Strokes if they were a full fletched punk band or an amalgam of that iteration of them (in my mind) and Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, Nick Cage and, oddly enough, Leonard Cohen. Yeah, think on that for a while and I think you will get where I am going, what I am hearing.

Dig "Twist" for sure and the raw nature that The Histrionics bring. The band is comprised of Quinton Byrd, Rylan Lamb, and Phoenix Hardy.

The Histrionics is a band from a void within Louisville, Kentucky comprised of Quinton Byrd, Rylan Lamb, and Phoenix Hardy. Their music has been described as Jim Morrison rising from the grave and recruiting PJ Harvey to create a bluesy, Avant-grunge sound (The Leo Weekly) The band is known for its genre bending songwriting style, passionate performances, and suspicious packages sent to local media outlets. As a Louisville band, they are often compared to the distinctive older punk sound of the area found in bands like Slint, Squirrel Bait, and By The Grace of God. We are The Histrionics and we hope that you enjoy the show.
