Caslean and the sonic agnostic, Shibuya-Kei hybrid exhilaration of "After Candy Melts"

"It's a Shibuya-Kei song about my philosophy of naivety, growing pain, and girl power."

"After Candy Melts" by China born / bred, London based indie artist Caslean is a genre hybrid, constructed of maybe so many flavors, in fact, as to feel sonically agnostic. It's light jazz predilections, synth pop, trip hop slaps, art punk, 8 bit breakdowns that feel like Donkey Kong on speed make for an exhilarating ride. A true bit of fusion pushed, squeezed through 90's Shibuya-Kei filters. For an almost pure monolinguist (know only a smattering of Dutch and Spanish) "After Candy Melts" is a story I can write for myself. A benefit of the mediocre side of the American school system.
