"Head" (Am I Out Of My?) by the wonderfully sideways L.A. based Grady Strange feels scattered but in a good way. As a listener it is best if you are an emotional multi-tasker as the sounds flood in. It is like a walking through a busy house party and every other person is trying to get your attention. I love the wonky nature here, the horns that invade surprisingly, the proto-punkian nature and the psychedelic experimentation. There are moments about when some of your head's might feel like it is all too much when the song dives into a calming pool, a delicious escape valve moment.
It doesn't last long before the amazing sonic anxiety flairs up. Grady Strange is the solo music mission of Grady Wenrich, along with help from his partner Mackenzie Howe aka Pet Dress, their dog Dolly Parton, and friends. Of "Head" (Am I Out Of My?), Grady shares:
"This song follows a man as he trudges through the anxiety of his monotonous life, while he searches of the meaning of it all. I recorded this song at home to a 4 track tape machine, and we tried to make a sonic portrayal of an anxiety attack, building up to the point of explosion, and then releasing."
I am digging the themes here and the unbridled controlled craziness. Grady is the perfect narrator here, his voice between self realization and a dulled slow suicidal fix as he delicately crosses barbed existential wires hoping not to get stuck, bloodied.

Or eating only healthy snacks with good fat

Or getting both of your eyebrows waxed
