MOLD! and the youthful sonic passionate barrage of "Don't Wake me up!" (Official Video)

"we know /  time is rising so fast / unforgiving / but we don't feel afraid if everything seems to be dying..."

The escapist realm of our dreams as inspiration and problem solving, as another state or universe of our reality is a steam release valve and a pure source of life that we seem to not be able to live without. Philosophers have reasoned that if we don't dream we die and whether that is really true or not, if we don't dream (in our awake or sleep state) our souls, our lives would suffer tremendously.  I thought of that when listening to the heavy barrage of sounds and passion while watching the Official Video of "Don't Wake me up!" by Miami (via Peru) band MOLD! (as directed by David Pelletier).

MOLD!'s sound here feels incredibly punchy and dense with unbridled energy, soaring guitar and glimpses into shoegaze, indie rock (with an emphasis on rock) and maybe that proto punkian 2000's wave of fertile sounds that felt like it was injected with that sort of Pixies / Sonic Youth drug (2000 to 2015 in particular). Like an amalgam of artists like Ringo Deathstarr, Yuck, The Megaphonic Thrift, Chelsea Light Moving, MOLD! has that artful over the top wall of sound that you can gleefully get lost in.

As press notes share:

[Channeling both frontmen's Carlo Barbacci's and Bronto Montano's fierce belief in following your dreams, “Don’t Wake Me Up” tackles life's various obstacles through new wave guitars, driving drums and Barbacci’s lofi-punk vocals. The single was co-produced by Ryan Haft (Torche, Capsule, Lo-Pan) and features Frankie Lujan on drums, plus Julian Beltran and Luis Ledesma on additional instruments.]

Jump into the "Don't Wake me up!" (Official Video) and never stop dreaming. It is the only thing in this fucking weird and messed up world that will keep you sane.

At the core of Miami-based band MOLD! is a border-defying friendship. Although both born and raised in Lima, Peru, guitarist Carlo Barbacci and bassist Bronto Montano didn’t connect until a mutual desire for a more music-involved future brought them to the US within a six month time period.

Rounded out by drummer Frankie Lujan, MOLD! provide an energetic mix of noise and alternative rock, shoegaze and post-punk. The band cites IDLES, A Place to Bury Strangers, Sonic Youth and Oh Sees among their biggest influences.
