"and the pressure weighs a ton / but I have to hold my tongue..."
The circular rhythms of "Serendipity" crafted in Los Angeles by Sneakpeek, the psychedelic bio-synth wave garage rock project of Dora Hiller and Aric Bohn, get comfortably under your skin and then the itchy angst creeps up on you. Hiller's vocal countenance, somehow ethereal but deeply raw (in a tactile sense) stands in a whirling array of synths, guitars and machine beats. As the music moves with the constant rumble of the metro, lyrics feel bound to the inevitability of work and sometimes emotional drudgery and towing the line in order to find fulfillment.
“Maybe I’ll never be satisfied / Because then I’d be complete / This synchronicity unfolding perfectly / Serendipity is magnified / You have to work at what you love / But I don’t know what I want / And the pressure weighs a ton / But I have to hold my tongue.”

Once upon a time in the city of dreams - Los Angeles, Dora Hiller and Aric Bohn formed the fuzzy fuming psych band known as Sneakpeek, bringing together a sound that combined elements of dream pop with grungy, garage-rock sludge. Both Southern California natives, Dora and Aric’s paths led them to perform in various bands over the years but Sneakpeek has always been the passion project close to their heart.
Their self titled debut was released in 2013 by Burger Records and hailed by the LA Times as a “noisy nine-track album offering up heavy, druggy guitar riffs that’d make Kurt Vile (or Lou Reed) proud”.
Now they have emerged from their musical hibernation to produce a brand new album recorded entirely in the Glassell Park neighborhood of LA. This forthcoming record has one foot in the abstract avant-garde and another foot firmly rooted within the sensibilities of new wave, disco and synth pop embedded with strands of mutant DNA.
Hiller explains of the track, “Inspired by the teachings of Abraham Hicks and Yogananda, ‘Serendipity’ is about the magic of synchronicity and how the universe sends us messages if we are willing to notice the signs.”
Push play on "Serendipity" and get on the treadmill, push the boulders, never stop, enjoy the blood and bruises and find your place.
