Timothy Michael Immen and the ethereal electronica of "God's Tricky Man"

"Within the electronica you feel a struggle..."

"God's Tricky Man" by Chicago born, Phoenix raised, South Korea based songwriter Timothy Michael Immen, and from his new gospel album "In The House Of My Family And Friends", rides on dramatic bold shapes and builds, diverts from them. This essentially electronic instrumental soundscape, for me, feels like a journey, a climb up tough terrain to run from something or get to someone. Your imagination might take you to different places or planets. Within the electronica you feel a struggle. You can call it fantasy pop or ethereal pop or something else.

For me, maybe it ends too soon. Maybe I wish it would break away toward clearly acoustic stringed instruments to give it another texture but that being said it certainly turns in my head in a magnetic way and it certainly doesn't feel like it would be on a gospel album, at least a traditional one. It's nice to be surprised.
