Buck St Thomas and the ever turning sad photo carousel of "Quiet Thrills"

"yeah, we were never meant to be alone / I swear it's misery..."

I love songs that bridge the gap between indie rock and pop. The tenuous sweet spot is hit perfectly on "Quiet Thrills" by Providence, RI based Busk St Thomas, the mild moniker of singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, film composer Robert J. St Thomas. I would also add power pop to the equation and the acoustic guitar shapes feel sort of 90's post grunge with emo folk tendencies. A lot going on, all great, all captivating. The more I listen, the lyrics are getting their hooks in me as are the production touches from the sparse piano to the reverse guitar sounds. St Thomas' vocal countenance is compelling too, mellow, sweet falsettos and feeling appropriately broken.

Buck St Thomas shares:

"This is a nostalgic and melancholy song - chorus progresses each time to have more depth and percussive elements. It is about dealing with your mental health throughout the course of a relationship."
