The laid back, chiffon like "Red n Blue" by Sir Jay, the moniker of Finnish-Russian singer-songwriter / producer Sergei Vartiainen, is an indie rocker with lovely pop orchestrations and a funk underbelly. That funk sway (for me) is everything. The sense here for me is the vibrancy and sultry shine of 80's pop rock when artists like Hall and Oates, Naked Eyes, Culture Club and Thompson Twins played on our car radios. Back then, the vibe just like Sir Jay would feel cool and vibey until a heavy guitar solo stood in the spotlight and kills, that happens here too. Everything works, everything cajoles and takes you off to hot summer nights.

Red n Blue / Rubble is a mysterious double single from Sir Jay’s upcoming neo-psychedelic debut album Running from Yourself. Originally written and produced in the first months of hot Berlin summer, Red n Blue captures the heated vibrations with a masterful touch of analog synths, vintage beats and metaphorical lyrics. It's a love song and it's a song to appreciate the moment and the endless summer nights. The following track ‘Rubble’ is an explosion of color where a poem is merged with the rhytmic groove of samba performed by Oskari Järvinen. The new release is a perfect fit for any Indie-rock, Indie-pop or Neo-Psychedelia playlist.

Sir Jay a.k.a Sergei Vartiainen is a Finnish-Russian singer, producer and songwriter. His musical universe, combining aesthetics of 60’s and 70’s with the sounds of millennium, is a masterful blend of finger-picked acoustic guitar, analog synths, wild vintage beats and poetic lyrics.
Sir Jay moved to Berlin right before the pandemic in search for a new artistic vision. The world never returned to normal, but the three strange years spent amidst midnight poppies, maples and moody streetlights permanently shaped the artist’s sound and spiraled it to new heights. The nine tracks, guided by the soft voice, carefully crafted musical arrangements and touchy lyrics, result in something strangely moving while showing the versatility of the artist. The collaboration with violinist Elia Lombardini and drummer Oskari Järvinen gives the album the final kick it deserves.
