Pete Campbell and the folk country beautiful timeless nature of "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow"

"we have climbed mountains together / we have fallen down..."

Here at AP, I gravitate towards sideways iterations of all genres. Maybe the most defining aspect of featuring a song is if I lean my head, tweaked by a surprisingly odd or beautiful musical shape or perplexed by the poetically twisted pretzel logic of a string of lyrics. Maybe they are artistically vague with multiple meanings wrapped up in metaphors. Then there are songs like "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" by Ridgefield, Connecticut based musician, guitar craftsman and Maple syrup producer Pete Campbell (your eyes did not deceive you, that is Maple syrup producer, not music producer) that may not surprise me compositionally at all really but stun me by it's earnest utter beauty.

Steeped in a sort of late 70's garden rock sway, at a time when hippy and cowboy culture could exist together, and produced with the clarity of mystical mountain spring water, Pete Campbell and collaborators like Jeff Arevalo on bass, and his brother Matt Campbell on lap steel guitar and dobro have created the perfect folk country classic. A song cast in amber, sounding so timeless that it will live for a thousand years and ask that question asked by others like Carole King / Gerry Goffin and expressed in doo wop fashion by The Shirelles in 1960. Campbell has nice grit to his voice that feels more folk country than country and thankfully, not bro country. Even though it asks hard questions, it feels like a wedding song, a country slow dance. Everything is perfectly placed and, once again, Campbell's voice is spot on perfect for this genre riding fences and touching hearts.

Pete Campbell is a Ridgefield, CT-based musician, guitar craftsman and Maple syrup producer. When he isn't slinging a guitar, and writing songs, you'll find him with his hands in the dirt of his beloved Horse Shoe Farm. Farmer Pete likes his music the way he likes his produce, organically grown, all natural, and delivered straight from the heart. Listening to his well crafted songs, the honest emotion, lyrical creativity, and memorable melodies, one gets the feeling that there is a lifelong musician behind the guitar. In reality Campbell is really just getting started in music. Seeking an outlet for his music aspirations, Campbell found his way to Factory Underground Studios, which he first heard about through pals in the jam band Goose. Campbell began working with producer/engineer Thomas Stewart in 2022, forming a musical relationship that was immediately fruitful. The first song of this immense body of work, "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow," has been released by Pilot Light Records, officially marking Pete Campbell's commercial debut. The song, which is a mix of country, blues, folk and Americana, features Jeff Arevalo on bass, and his brother Matt Campbell on lap steel guitar and dobro. It's the first of many songs to follow, with at least four new singles and an EP to drop before the end of 2023. With the release of "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow," Pete Campbell couldn't be happier to finally sharing the songs that have been growing inside him for many years.
