"get the love if you need it / do what you want then believe it..."
While the first thing that amped me up, upon the first listen of "Get the Love" by Waterford, Ireland's Shane Barry (from Shane Barry and the Distractions) was the free form absolutely banging drum work, other things came into play during each subsequent listen. Things like the vintage organ that reminds me of the Farfisa Fast 3, the blaring horns circa 1978, other organ sounds Church like with funk in the floor boards, an absolutely glorious hopping bass line, Barry's vocal countenance that feels nostalgic like an amalgam of Nick Lowe and Allan Clarke (The Hollies) and a sultry, cool Brit pop bridge that at times has a bit of Burt Bacharach in it.
Cool stuff.

After a number of years fronting the 70’s-influenced Shane Barry and the Distractions , Shane Barry has embarked on a series of solo projects, collaborating with a variety of musicians. The solo single 'Love You When You're Gone' was released in the summer of 2023, and comes from the much anticipated debut solo album 'Songs from the Silver South'. Moving away from the influences of bands such as Supergrass and Dexys, that weighed heavily on the Distractions sound, Shane has expanded his pallet to add elements of synth-pop, ambient, electronica, and alt. country, while retaining the nod towards stalwarts including McCartney and Costello.
