"Ya No Es Lo Mismo"
The stirring emotional 80's driven "Ya No Es Lo Mismo" by Mexican singer-songwriter Bratty, feels as fresh as it does nostalgic. It goes down easy with a sound that embraces you, reminds you of youthful times and makes you want to dance even if you can't. Bratty blends 80's new wave, hints of twee, and post punk atmospheres and like an amalgam of 80's artists like Cocteau Twins, The Cure, The Sundays and Talulah Gosh, she pushes touchstone buttons in your head.
[BRATTY will release her new album TR3S on November 3, an LP where she opens up about all that’s weighing on her heart: her anxieties and insecurities and deepest infatuations, the singular pain of feeling too much, and the strange disconnect of dealing with seasonal depression in the summertime.
An all-encompassing outlet for the most difficult emotions, "TR3S" also examines the grief and confusion of fading connection on “Ya No Es Lo Mismo," the gloriously moody piece of new-wave-leaning pop, co-written by fellow Mexican singer/songwriter Billy Miamor.
“Billy showed me that song and I fell in love with this story of watching a relationship die and wanting to hold on so badly, so I asked him if I could keep it,” says BRATTY.
"Ya No Es Lo Mismo" follows the powerful "Agosto", the luminous “Estos Días” and the sublimely cathartic “Radio.”]
I look forward listening to "Ya No Es Lo Mismo" while driving down the California coast.
