"have mercy / have mercy on me..."
Wearing closed cup headphones, "Nostalghia" by Scottish/Irish, Berlin based singer-songwriter Calum Hughes feels so moving and immersive. This stripped down performance with textured guitar picking, Calum's emotionally wrought vocal countenance with a plaintive Bouzouki, Concertina stepping into a faint spotlight and added weathered ambience including a songbird speaking directly in your right ear makes for a transporting experience.
A lovely surprise this evening.
Calum Hughes "Writing folk songs about our sight through a glass darkly" indeed.
The flame cradled against my breast
The world flickers against my breast
Have mercy on me
The fuel soaking the clothes
The walk before you all
Have mercy on me
