Dark Dazey and the beautifully crazy psychedelia of "Gong Song"

 

"when the sun comes down / all the city lights come up..."


There is a beautiful musical bipolar sense within "Gong Song" by Los Angeles based psychedelic alt rockers Dark Dazey. On one hand there is a nuance subtlety like delicate 90's post rock (Radiohead-esque if they were into psychrock as opposed to psyche rock) and on the other hand, there is an unfettered rabid ID rock abandonment like surf punk unfiltered (like an amalgamic collision of OSEES, King Crimson, Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention).  

This flip of the coin insanity like a blend of art rock, massive psych rock, 70's, 90's, NOW is intriguing and beautiful. The sonic imagery from blissful long surfing lines and 60's French girls frolicking on the beach until the skies darken and Godzilla stomps on the party is wonderfully dramatic.
