We Are Galaxies and the soulful alt indie pop groove and cajole of "Slow Burn"

Easing into the dreamy melancholia of "Slow Burn" by We Are Galaxies, the collaborative indie project of songwriter, musician, producer Brian Jarmon, and it is easy to feel transfixed. Maybe it is just me, but there overall atmosphere, aesthetic pushed by a cool formidable beat and evocative electronica framing Riki Cedarbaum's exquisite, magnetic vocal countenance feels like a sultry somber collision of the 80's UK street soul sound and 90's UK pop (Everything But The Girl / The Cardigans come to mind a bit). Key to the emotional pull here are the nuances, the very chill overall sound and the balanced production that thankfully does not do too much. When you keep things quiet in a three point mix, you lean forward to listen and the mix here is as comely as Riki's vocals.
