Balloon Snake and the massive heaviness of "Warsaw"

"now that I have many friends / am I still a broken wreck / did I lose something vital / do I know what I'm even doing? / could you be forgiven / could you be anything..."

Embedded in a furious storm or guitars, bass and drums, "Warsaw" by Brooklyn's Balloon Snake has massive heaps of glorious distortions and angst in equal measure. When guitarist Micael Preysler screams out, "now that I have many friends / am I still a broken wreck / did I lose something vital / do I know what I'm even doing? / could you be forgiven / could you be anything...?", he asks more questions than making declarations creating the fractured tensions of youth that most anyone of any age can relate to.

The Bushwick formed band is rounded out by Stavi Kuba on vox / bass and Nate Hawley on drums and the heaviness is absolute which I want in this kind of sound. You want the sound so unequivocally loud that you can get lost in it, that you can feel the unhealed bruises and emotional weight of trying to navigate life when you are emerging the weighted moments of adulthood. I also like the fact that their is a sort of dirtiness to the emo that you feel and I find myself not even wanting to write emo even though I feel it around the edges. I imagine if you saw Balloon Snake live, the mix of shoegaze, punk, power pop might have your ears still ringing, your hearing a bit muffled the next morning but you will also have some things to think about like how you survived those hardest times of your life thus far or how you are surviving now.

Balloon Snake was formed in Bushwick. Made up of Micael Preysler (vox/guitar), Stavi Kuba (bass/vox) and Nate Hawley (drums). Inspired by guitar-heavy, melodic bands of the nineties and early '00s, Balloon Snake looks to bring a fun mix of slacker alt, shoegaze, punk and power pop to the scene.
