Cavalo55 and the stoked fire stories and summer storms of "acdc" (Live)

"When we burned the fence of the neighbour / He was blastin’ ac/dc on an old stereo / Then the english girl left because of his horse / she broke his leg during a ride..."

Listening to the bruised up ramble and sway of "acdc" performed LIVE (at ZBD) by Lisbon, Portugal based Cavalo55, the musical project of very well-travelled multi-instrumentalist, folk singer-songwriter Simone Carugati, and I want to capture, can even see the characters he sings about in my mind on old square Polaroid snaps as I listen to the stories full of sweet libations, a horseback riding girl and a gnarly mean man.

When we burned the fence of the neighbour
He was blastin’ ac/dc on an old stereo
Then the english girl left
because of his horse
she broke his leg
during a ride
And he put him down
that horse wasn't use anymore
he was a mean man
with a mean mind
blastin ac/dc on an old stereo
creepin around the fire for hours
not saying a word
he was goin’ down hard on weed, canned whiskey&coke

I have always wanted the wear with all to be a lone traveler but never had the courage. See some of Simone Carugati's back story via Liner Notes (bracketed):

[Growing up in Northern Italy, Cavalo55 didn’t have much to do apart from learning how to play the guitar and dreaming that he was somewhere in America.

After playing in a few bands and studying at a film school, he quickly realized he’d never settle to be an armchair wanderer. As soon as he got a chance, he left Italy and traveled to Australia, Indonesia, Scotland, and the United States, where he mingled with anarchists and jammed with New Orleans’ music-loving crust punks. During those days of busking and train-hopping, he dug deep into the great legacy of old-time folk guitar music, absorbing the Delta blues of Robert Johnson, Blind Willie Johnson’s slide guitar, and picking up the Appalachian banjo.

A family emergency prompted him to fly back to Italy, and soon he made his way to Lisbon, Portugal, the westernmost part of the European Continent. After a short while he was already playing with countless local artists with these collaborations bolstering his reputation and songwriting. Now the right moment has presented itself for him to create and release the first songs under his own name as he looks to shape his musical identity as a solo artist. Debut EP ‘Late Harvest’ will follow in July. Of his singles released so far he has had features in Americana UK and Glide Magazine, and live he has opened for Myriam Gendron with tour dates being booked now for a post summer tour.]

after becky lou's party
many people split
some went down to melbourne to squat in Lygon street
But Storm hanged around
with her royal ancestry
and her plastic surgery
and her beautiful crossed eyes
and I wondered
if I had what it takes
to be a good man, with a clear mind
not fearing anything through the shiverin’ night

those summer storms blown all us away
we didn't have much to do but we did it our own way
fishin’ lines at the old jim's barn

there were tunes in the air it was lotta fun
but beware of the snakes in the tall tall grass
if the king catches you
you'll be gone fast

Right now canned Whiskey & Coke sounds good as it is cold in this old house up in the mountains. In the end "acdc" feels like fodder for a film I might dare to see while curled up in a quilted blanket with my love in this old house up in the moutains.... woooooohooooo!
