"it's the little hours thinking about you / it's the little hours I spent being blue..."
The more you listen to the time bending sunshine of "Little Hours" by Dollar Store Queen, the alt pop project of Kendall Jones and Rayna Torres, the more you might feel like you are spiraling into another world. This sonic fluster of vintage soul pop has multiple flavors, of coffee, of bubble gum, psychedelic soul, hints of two tone, Jamaican jazz, tropical punk.
Now, I could be totally wrong on all of this but it is what I am feeling and that feeling shifts just like this delightful surprising song that at one point gets glitchy and after a wonderful distorted drum solo slowly morphs into a hallucinogenic free fall and stalls out for a moment as if to reveal that this wonderful pastiche of cross generational musical touchstones is just a daydream.
I love Rayna's vocal countenance and words, and Kendall's compositional sway and swagger. It all is so f*cking cool.
I sadly don't know much about these two creatives. I just don't.
