Kobe Jay and the surf punk / pop prowess of "Always Tired"

"I won't save you / cuz I need saving too..."

Against the massive surf punk guitars of "Always Tired", Las Vegas DIY artist Kobe Jay swims in the angst of youth staring in one mirror multiplied by millions. Apart from the manic power that made me think a wee bit of a collision of a summersaulting kennyhoopla and The Frights, Jay interjects some straighter power pop prowess here too:

"I've been passing through time / living in a past life / I don't really feel alive / I've been living in my mind / the collection of my lies / I really wanna feel alive..."

"Always Tired" ends with an audio clip of the 1969 John Donne LSD exploitation film "Alice in Acidland" (nice touch).

"Always Tired" is off of Kobe Jay's new album "Ego Death".
