The super inviting sonics of "Hesitator" from Lisbon, Portugal's GOMOJO feel like a cross generational ride. The vintage Farfisa organ tones give the whole affair a late 70's psych sound, the every shifting bass and drums dance feel chill but active, the guitar lines jangly and penetrating offsetting the dreamily drawn vocals (love the vocal sound). While you might think of other artists, for some reason I felt a sort of early MGMT pull and I thought of Animal Collective too. The shapes and overall sounds have an obtuse pop prowess and I sense the seeds of bohemian folk rock or the ghosts of other such artists as Fairport Convention or even early new wave like Elvis Costello.

[GOMOJO are a 4-piece band from Lisbon. The band was formed in 2022 when long term friends, Joe Armitage and Mykle Oliver Smith joined forces to write music for a climate awareness event at an arts association in the small beach town of Parede, on the outskirts of Lisbon. Their immediate musical chemistry made it clear that a long-lasting collaboration was inevitable.
