TENDAYS and the hushed intimacies, hybrid rap ascensions of "a4u (anything 4 u)"

"show one / teach one empathy / I found comfort in your scene / the things I'd do for your peace / have you seen me in your dreams..."

The sonic, emotional compressions of "a4u (anything 4 u)" by Miami-born, Broward raised hybrid rapper TENDAYS, aka artist Tendai Joseph Chafa-Govha, eases in to your head and moves down to your feet in complex ways. The hypnotic blend of rap, emo bedroom, hip hop, alternative pop, indie rock manifests in diverse turns and twists. This might have to do with Tendai's inspirations that run the gamut from Kid Cudi, Thom Yorke, Kanye West, 2Pac, Tyler the Creator, Frank Ocean, Earl Sweatshirt, Kevin Abstract and more.

I am loving the vocal bounce that is expressed in hushed intimacies, in declarations that might feel like inner dialogs and mirror reflections that challenge one's pathway to being better while giving oneself up to someone else. The dreamy, even lazy, guitar strums, the beats that feel embellished with foot stomps and hand claps, the trance piano, the flute like synths and funky illusory bass lines all culminating in a slow burning ascension and a melancholy, yet hopeful, resolution.

LINER NOTES:

TENDAYS’ music is a journey into the subconscious of your deepest thoughts and feelings. With an electronic, computer-based beat style (which is produced not only by TENDAYS but also Scot) creates a very spaced out introspective ambience which forces you to look your truest self dead in the eyes. He raps about his inner-struggles, issues he witnesses in his daily life, his most present feelings, girls and heartbreak, and lessons he believes will benefit his audience. TENDAYS uses his music as a device to help the outcast, non-conformist kids find solace and a person to relate to through music. His music is a story and a world that he has every intention of expanding and continuing throughout his career.

Tendai Joseph Chafa-Govha is known by his stage name, ‘TENDAYS’. Tendai being pronounced ‘Ten-Die’, and TENDAYS as ‘Ten Days’. He is a Miami-born, Broward raised upcoming innovator.

Though typically categorized as a rapper, TENDAYS has a very melted and inclusive sound. His musical sound ranges from traditional hip-hop and rap-centric, to a indie/alternative styled twist. His personal flare is influenced by many artists including Kid Cudi, Thom Yorke, Kanye West, 2Pac, Tyler the Creator, Frank Ocean, Earl Sweatshirt, Kevin Abstract, and many more.

TENDAYS’ first single was “I’m Insecure” prod. Scot (2017). This song was a raw flow of emotion that was just the beginning of Tendai’s career. In 2019, he has now introduced his first demo project “BLEAK” which was produced by both him and Scot. Both “I’m Insecure” and “BLEAK” are very vulnerable works, full of a lot of intimate emotions. “BLEAK” though, appears to be a much more matured rhythm-centric sound overall - in efforts to create a perpetual and continuous flow throughout the entire project. TENDAYS is the beginning of an entirely new realm of sound, production, and display of emotional connect.
