The Painted Roses and the retro psych rock ramble of "Tired Eyes"

"hey / I've got a feeling / I can't find my way out..."

The dreamy western rock noir atmospheres of "Tired Eyes" by The Painted Roses has me thinking of the artists from the iconic Laurel Canyon, Southern California counterculture even though The Painted Roses hail from Northern Utah. The artful strains, passions of "Tired Eyes" feel seeded from that mid-60's / 70/s period of folk glittered indie rock or, as I like to call it, 'garden rock' atmospheres. With the punchy yet rustic, what I perceive as American rock meets British psychedelia, the girl / boy vocal countenance, the journey-esque vast rambling sound that goes from dreamy, to bass pushed runaways, to exquisite lead guitar breaks on top of huge striking downbeats, the artful cinematic arc of "Tired Eyes" has me thinking that The Painted Roses have the same musical nucleic acid of iconic artists (or an amalgam of artists) like Buffalo Springfield, Linda Ronstadt and the Stone Poneys, Jackson Browne, The Eagles to name a few.

Dig the sound here, the dreaminess and utter heaviness holding hands.

LINER NOTES:

Splattering a modern retro dreamscape of collective-indulgence, broken hearts, and inebriated passion, The Painted Roses were grown in a garden of southern rock and western folk and lovingly fertilized with psychedelia. Based in the mountains of northern Utah, the band draws from influences such as CSNY, The War On Drugs, and My Morning Jacket.
