The gleefully potent, manic heaviness of "Megabee" by Latvia female fronted alt rock outfit Purple Negative, and introduced (to me) via one of the most fun Official Videos I have seen in the last 5 years, feels like a bloody ride through a Panos Cosmatos H. P. Lovecraftian hallucinogenic horror movie. As press notes share "Megabee is a story about the struggle with ones’ big and prickly ego" and again, is ripe with a horror manifestation movie, right? The unrelenting drum beat, the blips, screeches, bends, sort of Andalusian, meets surf punk whiffed psych rock guitar lines and elīza daine's wide eyed full throttle vocal countenance grabs you by the shoulders and pulls you in close. Like crushed pills of OSEES, Otoboke Beaver, Diamanda Galás, Metallica, Plasmatics blended together and snorted, "Magabee" might keep you up for days.

Purple Negative is a female fronted alternative rock band from Latvia, which combines punk and psychedelic rock influences into unique sounding songs. Since the year 2017 the band has been actively entertaining its audience in many festivals and shows in Baltic states and Finland, for example, festival “Devilstone” in Lithuania in 2022, as well as opening for the band Placebo in Sigulda, June 2022.
Purple Negative has gained its recognition with the releases of singles like “Fluorescent Lights” and “Happy Once a Year”. In 2020 the band released its second mini-album “Happy”, which notes progressive changes in Purple Negative’s sound. In the beginning of the year 2024 the band has released a single and a music video for "Megabee", for the bands upcoming debut album of the same title.
