Fleur bleu·e and the dream pop intricacies and beautiful existential dread of "pillow wet" (Official Video)

"Lately I’ve realized I always say I wish it happens / I’ve always wanted to live my life through someone else’s..."

There is something sonically happening on "pillow wet" by Paris-based dream pop duo Fleur bleu·e that casts it in a hazy nostalgic light. It is as if the sonic imagery is shot through a light piece of gauze, like the colors fade up in Polaroids where the darks are really dark, the lights are pristine light and the edges feel like prisms. This is not to say that the progressive pop escapades of "pillow wet" feel chill or languid, they do not, there are emotional intensities within the time signature swaps, wanderlust shades and wide eyed wonder in the questioning lyrics. While indie rock and bedroom pop are hand in hand dancing, there is still existential dread scattered on the beach sand.

Fleur bleu·e shares that: ["pillow wet"explores the quest of freeing oneself from the gripe of past illusions and the the haunting echoes of missed opportunities. It is a plea for self-liberation, trying to find peace in the liminal spaces of life.]

"Lately I’m paralyzed, my mind is like a deadweight
I’m lying in my bed, it’s been a week and no one’s asked
And when I look up outside, I can only see the clouds
Time drips down on my neck down my spine
And my pillow is wet, is wet, is wet..."

LINER NOTES:

[In the – directed by the duo – Vlad reconnects with fragments of his early childhood in Sofia, Bulgaria, his birthplace: the old flat and the geraniums of Baba (Grandma), the view from the window on the neighboring Soviet blocks, the peculiar concrete statues in the nearby park where he felt on "the top of the world". Throughout the video, the serene Mount Vitosha continually reappear, as an eternal healing source that brings stability amidst the transient nature of life.]

[Following their 2023 debut album "Unrequited Love", the Paris-based dream pop duo Fleur bleu·e embark on a 15-date US West Coast tour this summer (July 7 - August 16). For this occasion, they are releasing a special self-produced 2-track single that captures their evolving sound and poignant personal themes.]

Fleur bleu·e (blue flower) originates from the French expression that signifies deep sentimentalism and disconnection from reality. Utilizing the French inclusive dot character, it's intentionally spelled in both masculine and feminine forms. Fleur bleu·e weaves an ethereal music from dreams and nightmares, engaging our vulnerabilities beyond the confines of binary gender and celebrating emotions and beauty found in small imperfections.
