"Nothing can hurt me / These walls I built they go for miles / The seal they make is far to guile / So / Nothing can hurt me / These gates I made are made of tile / All attempts would take awhile..."
The melancholy whimsy and whoa of " "WALLBOY" by Massachusetts singer-songwriter, producer, mixer, mysterious sonic universe builder Walter The Producer is a lot of things, the sum of all of it managing to stir your imagination and move you. There is a lot to love here, whether it be the stabs at alt pop, glitchy tones, hip hop nudges, youthful angst, wonky pop, tropical punk dives and Reid's vocal countenance (and self harmonies) that rattle off stories that act as memories, potent injections of your own similar doubts and long looks in foggy mirrors. I love the pretty guitar shapes at the core of "WALLBOY" as well as the dreamy bassline and drum beat (love the sound of the drums - hope they are real). This musical core along with the vocals that utter words full of pathos is enough but the production flourishes (there are many) add so fucking much to build a cinematic sound as a soundtrack to a story you want to know the backstory on. You want to have a discussion with Reid and flush out the seeds that blossomed into this wonderful track.
"WALLBOY", accompanied with a deceptively tugging official video. is from Walter The Producer's full length "PLEASE HELP ME I'M SCARED".

“This is a project I made during a period of time that was kind of confusing for me,” acknowledges Walter The Producer.
“A lot of good things were happening in my life with people discovering my music and what not, but I was also super depressed and anxious, which was scary because my dreams were actually coming true. Why was I not happy?”

(the words)
Nothing can hurt me
These walls I built they go for miles
The seal they make is far to guile
So
Nothing can hurt me
These gates I made are made of tile
All attempts would take awhile
But yet you still try
And what kinda man am I
To let let you still try
To let you still fantasize
But
Nothing can touch me
My yard is filled with barbs and wires
To keep away the cons and liars
So
Nothing can touch me
I built a house on sharpened knives
To keep your thoughts away from mine
But yet you still try
And what kinda man am I
To let let you still try
To let you still fantasize
If these walls were kinder
Without barbs and wires
You would still be tired
By the way I’m tied up
And if these knives were shattered
And the blades were sealed tight
You would still be battered
By all the glass turned daggers
