The Young Scones and the dark red blood, sweat and bruises (and more sweat) of "Bone"

"You say one thing and do another / I’d quite like to be friends with your brother / Yeah, I’ve got a bone to pick with you / We saw the sun shining through..."

The dark red blood, sweat and bruises (and more sweat) of "Bone" by Toronto's The Young Scones is the kind of raw, massive, artful rocker that will get the entire crowd at any venue jumping, moshing so uncontrollably that the building could seriously shift off it's foundation. This is the thing, the full throttle barrage of sound is not only massive, bringing to my mind sonic images of Descendents (Myage), T.S.O.L (Code Blue), Iggy Pop & The Stooges (Search and Destroy), but there are things going on in "Bone"'s constructions, it's flesh that tips a hat to decades of rock iconography. These nods whether purposeful or intrinsic might suggest the ghosts of AC/DC, Cheap Trick, The Beatles, The Who and not in any sort of copycat way but in it's complex rock nucleic acid as fans.

Gary McGuinness's lead vocals are absolutely stellar going for broke, stretching those vocal chords to the point of breaking. The entire band of four friends, the aforementioned Gary McGuinness (Lead Vocals/Guitar) and Brian Derro (Bass/Vox) Zac Lennon (Lead Guitar/Vox) Marcelo Maltez (Drums) lend their top notch pummeling style of play. A lot of the time heavy rock band's play with abandon but over each other, this is not the case here. I get the sense that each musician is serving the song and each other.

I hope this track ends up on everyone's playlists, in movies, in Netflix bingers and other media because it deserves to be viewed by throngs of people as an instant classic.

If you want to sing along, you can find the lyrics on The Young Scones' Bandcamp.
