"big bright borderlines on the street side / speeding side roads passing by..."
The transforming dioramic triad of "Stop Sign" / "Wishful Thinking" / "Happier", by The Netherlands' art indie outfit Honey I'm Home and performed live at the Elm Tree House in London, play like a 3 part indie film. That is, the sonics, the emotional pull feels at once different among the course of the 3 song listening experience but also connected like characters holding hearts and hands, pulling each other through the melancholy and eruptive turmoil. "Stop Sign" (maybe the most darkly dreamy and maybe my stand alone favorite) feels perfectly, sadly introspective. I love the picking guitar lines, the mournful vocal countenance, the subtle to explosive bass and drum dance and the eruptive guitars mirroring the passion, "now I'm bleeding out by the street sign".
The second chapter / scenes of "Wishful Thinking" feels more hopeful, the guitar shapes glistening a bit more and the throttling up beats potently wistful. I thought of the sunny darkness of artists like The Pains of Being Pure at Heart and indie subversions of a band like Yuck or Cymbals Eat Guitars. The final scenes of "Happier" really do pull things together, maybe feeling like an amalgam of the first two tracks or a baby birthed from both. The narrative, the boy / girl vox that cadence and up ticking ringing notes and bending guitars themselves feel thoughtful and seriously hopeful even though it, too, feels lathered in degrees of melancholia. I love the heavier breakdowns that feel like youthful small venues in L.A. / North Hollywood. I don't know, I eluded to "Stop Sign" being my favorite of all three but I am changing my mind, I fucking love all of them and especially tied together into this indie movie in my head.
The phrase "Honey I'm Home" takes on a new meaning forever moving forward.

Although Honey I’m Home is still a new presence on the scene, they’ve already made an impressive impact. They’ve opened for Goat Girl in Berlin and Hotline TNT in Amsterdam, performed at Girl in Red’s show at the AFAS Live, and completed two UK tours, i.e. supporting Blood Wizard. Their live performances are full of dynamic range, seamlessly shifting from intimate moments to explosive climaxes, blending layered guitars with deeply personal lyrics.
Beyond their musical influences, Honey I’m Home is visually influenced by the eerie, dark atmosphere of VHS horror. This haunting aesthetic intertwines with the melancholy of shoegaze, incorporating nostalgic elements of Super 8 film and dark fantasy. These visual elements form a vital part of the band’s artistic identity.
