The dark / light ambient and musical universe building of "Paranoia", by Wroclaw, Poland based musician / artist 17Y, might slither beneath your skin and then deep into your psyche taking you to other places. Bolstered by sounds of nature and the squeaky uneasiness of thumps on doors against evocative electric guitar strains there is a collision of emotional triggers. This may not be the first time that creators have used ambient sounds, or even cultivated non instruments within musical landscapes but, here, the purposeful grooves created are cut and pasted in such a way that they feel darkly filmic. Maybe A24 or Blumhouse should be paying attention to 17Y's allure.
