"lay me in the tall grass / I want to die in the sunshine..."
The rambling, shuffling sadness and ultimate survivorship of "Color Your Devil" by NYC based bassist, songwriter Dylan DeBiase, blends abstract (even uncomfortable) indie rock tensions, inviting balladic grooves, and somber narratives. At the core is a folk story or maybe a parable about swimming against life's currents and wondering if the struggle is what it's ultimately all about or if there is more, just trying to read between the evocative lines. In the end "Color Your Devil" feels like an unfolding mystery (kind of like life itself) or, maybe even an inspiration to a greater story or existential indie flick.
One can dream.
"Color Your Devil is a song about moving through life and trying to find a way to explore your desires, decision making and who you want to be in the world while everything feels like its flowing against you." Dylan DeBiase
