"There’s an inner feeling that begins to sprout / I’m not like anyone else without a doubt / You’ve got the knowledge of what to do / And I look so small compared to you..."
The massive distortions, metal progressive classicalism of "Scars", by Polish alt rock outfit Nook, hits all the right notes, drawn out in broad strokes with blending of emotional and musical shades. I am loving the sound of this heaviness that shapeshifts from ostensibly heavy metal power to pools of gothic and Middle Eastern or Andalusian filters during the quieter reflective moments. The sound is very filmic and at different times throughout the song I thought of a wide breath of other artists as having (maybe) the same sonic nucleic acid. Everyone from System of a Down to Queensryche to Nashville's supergroup Tomahawk to Deftones.
"People tend to close doors
I leave them ajarIt’s so simple:
Share with everything that is the best about you
And don’t be afraid
Of getting a scar"
I the vocal performance is commanding, maybe saturated in 90's metal or alt rock atmospheres, stylistically, the drawl feeling at once sagely and deep in thought.
Step in to "Scars" and you might conjure up past battles with swords or current ones behind keyboards.

Nook doesn’t try to impress you. It invites you. A band built on restraint, emotion, and raw presence—Nook makes art rock that lives in the space between vulnerability and strength. Their recent release, Liquid Tissue, explores memory, time, and the hidden dimensions of self. There’s melody, tension, and truth. It’s not made for everyone. It’s made for the ones who feel before they understand.
