"All the time the world goes spinning / Only waiting for another day / Sun is high my heart goes beating / Travel light, holiday wear..."
Saturated in rock classicalism, new wave abstractions and punk power, "A Good Time" by Miami based rock trio The Zappe Cats, has potent retro rock atmospheres creating a sort of timeless stew of heaviness while retaining a pretty commercial power pop prowess at the same time. Call me weird, call my sonic listening ears to be all over the place but this track had me feeling a kind of halcyonic amalgam of The Cult, Grauzone and oddly enough Huey Lewis and the News. Seriously, that descriptor makes perfect sense to me. The slap back heaviness, the gritty clarity on the vox, the proggy alt rock arrangements are magnetic and super fun.
LINER NOTES:
[The Zappe Cats are a Miami-based rock trio formed by three Venezuelan musicians navigating life, identity, and sound after relocation. Blending alternative rock with punk energy and post-punk textures, their music reflects the urgency and momentum of starting fresh without forgetting where you come from.]
