Walt's Frozen Head and the hyper-kinetic politico punk / alt rock drama and disarray of "Trump Card"

"a mix of electro pop, grunge, indie disco, vocoder vocals and rioting and vomiting sound effects"

The hyper-kinetic politico punk / alt rock drama and disarray of "Trump Card", by Leeds' based art rock outfit Walt’s Frozen Head, is an audacious roller coaster ride. It is the kind of song with it's thumping bass and drum pogo dance, the spiraling synths, time sig swaps and dense new wave-esque and weird guttural vocal stabs that feels like the Gravitron at the carnival spinning out of control. This track exists on the band's debut album "Zero to Unicon" whose diverse chaotic tracks deal with the likes of:

[Post separation dog custody, the death of a Donal Campbell, cocaine fuelled orgies, the capital hill insurrection, age gap friendships and the strain of their cultural references.]

Listening to my first introduction to Walt's Frozen Head I feel like their sound feels adjacent to Battles, to Gary Numan, to Pixel Grip dusted with Butthole Surfers and Devo - (am I wrong?) or maybe an amalgam of all those creatively bent artists.

LINER NOTES (excerpted / bracketed):

[Trump Card takes the insurrection that happened on Capital Hill post Donald Trump’s 2021 election defeat as its muse. Blending a mix of electro pop, grunge, indie disco, vocoder vocals and rioting and vomiting sound effects.]

[Walt’s Frozen Head are a Leeds based art rock band who blend a chaotic mix of psych, prog, electro pop, horror and surreal humour.

Evoking the feeling of coming round from an anesthetic while the Cartoon Network flickers beside your hospital bed.

Walt has enjoyed continued support from BBC Introducing including a live session.

The bands live shows incorporate projections, props and costumes. The band has enjoyed number of support slots with Embrace and Evil Blizzard.]

Walt is back and full of poached eggs and trifle! Fresh from huge shows with Embrace plus a live session with BBC Introducing - Walt returns with a new single “Hunters Disguise” released on the 7th November. Walt will be supporting “Evil Blizzard” on the 22nd of November at the Underground in Bradford. The band enjoyed a run of festival shows during 2025 plus a headline performance at “YES” in Manchester. Walt shows are spectacular and include projections, props and costumes . Walt is ALIVE (slightly decomposing) “Having been in several ‘meat and potato’ indie bands the last thing I wanted to serve was a shepherd’s pie” explains Alfie Enzo, the brainchild behind Leeds band Walt’s Frozen Head. “Hopefully, this is more poached eggs and trifle”. Take that as you will, but it’s best seen as an explanation and ethos behind Walt’s Frozen Head, and the myriad facets that combine to make them what they are. Blending a chaotic mix of influences such as prog, surreal comedy, synth pop, psych, horror, art rock and B movies. In theory, it shouldn’t work, on paper however… Taking as much inspiration from Terry Gilliam’s cartoons as from ‘60s psych/avant-garde pop, the Leeds band are genuinely offering something different. The bands name is based around the myth that Walt Disney requested that his head be frozen to be brought back to life in the future. The descent into madness has never sounded so good!
