The stripped down noisy power pop / garage punk rock brilliance of "table tennis", by Rotterdam - The Netherlands three piece outfit Ne Pas de Machine, is the kind of sound that would pull you to the stage at an open air festival from a quarter mile away. A jammy amalgam of a lot of things from alt rock to a sort of 80's power pop / 90's alt rock and early to mid aughts indie / garage rock / retro rock and all sorts of period of art punk, the sound is so incredibly vibrant full of hard edged guitars fully frontal and distorted in crisp ways. I love the in your face sound that is so reverb free (no shoegaze inclinations), keeping the guitar, bass push and sparkling drums so incredibly immediate, a fully barking framework for the vocal aesthetic that feels somewhat internal and aloof but in a great way. The surprise musical interlude is amazing as well and is some musical tropical punk place that 90% of bands would not go to, so kudos to that in and of itself.
