Ørkensangen (The Desert Song) by Yune - alternative rock that builds on itself

AP Track Review

Ørkensangen (The Desert Song) by Danish alternative rock band Yune begins with low cello guttural growls against pearly electric guitar notes. Those sounds splash into a pulsing bass and beat framing Tobias Sachse’s self assured vocal performance, internal, asking questions. As instruments and more sounds layer upon each other over and over again you can feel tensions (love the guitar work), and deep grooves growing, askew sonic impressions building on itself. Cool vibes.

Ørkensangen is from Yune's self titled debut album coming out next year.

THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM - PRESS NOTES:

Ørkensangen is the thematic cornerstone of the upcoming debut album from the Danish quintet Yune and serves as a taster for a rock album with a streak of touareg heat at its core. Despite the Danish title, which translates to ‘The Desert Song’, the song is in English.
Cellos, dusty synths, church bells colour a soundscape through which two guitar lines whirl effortlessly around and through each other like dust devil across the desert floor. At its centre, singer Tobias Sachse’s voice guides us through a narrative about searching for answers within oneself in a seemingly hopeless situation, and ultimately leaving something behind without knowing what’s on the horizon just yet. Being lost in the desert is an apt metaphor for the song, in other words, and Ørkensangen is a strong introduction to the sound of an exciting new act, ready to share their debut album in March 2020.
