Dana Gavanski's track "Good Instead of Bad" starts like a 60's pixie cut tearjerker but then it cuts you deeply

AP Track Review

Good Instead of Bad, by Vancouver singer-songwriter Dana Gavanski, with it's torn pop vibe and sweet tambourine cadence could very well be a 60's pixie cut tearjerker on static laden TV footage of a show called "Shabang" or "Truly Top of The Pops" but what sets it apart aesthetically from those songs that sometimes felt a bit melodramatic is Gavanski's vocal presence. Not only is it drop dead gorgeous but deathly deep with emotions. There is something about her pained chilly aesthetic that makes you feel her pain in a real way. The added synths with a divergent sort of anti-pop cut (I thought of Porches) elevate this track even further. Absolutely kills me and give me chills.

It is from Dana Gavanski's upcoming album- "Yesterday Is Gone" which I am so eager to hear.

THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM - PRESS NOTES:

Born in Vancouver to a Serbian family, Dana Gavanski has always harboured a desire to sing. In her final year of university in Montreal, she picked up the guitar left by her ex-partner and decided to re-learn.
Dana's upcoming album, Yesterday Is Gone, is by turns break-up album, project of curiosity, and her attempt to ‘learn to say what I feel and feel what I say’.
Her new single, "Good Instead of Bad", features Dana's expressive vocals over minimalistic instrumentation, which allows each of the elements to remain clear and intentional.
